Description
“Hey hey/do you want to exiisssstttt?” COME ON how can a record be this disheveled and this attractive? Son of Dribble are a Columbus band that make immediate, resonant, half-regretful/half-affectionate rumbling pop songs. Each one is led by an achy croon, welcoming yes but also insinuating there’s no coming back? Like that feeling of knowing it’s a bad decision as you make it. The melodies are warm and wooly. They all exist in this narrow mid-rangy band, that specific AM radio gloom that makes everything feel like an uncertain memory. Like the haziness of long distance driving, but also the momentum of it, thanks to the punchy, persistent drumming. Everything on “Against the Wind” adds up perfect, interlocking, blended; and everything on “Against the Wind” feels a little out of place, like listening to your summer mixtape in February. Edition of 300 copies, white vinyl, with lyric insert. Issued by Minimum Table Stacks in 2023.
