Description
Unmarry Me’s first 12″ sees them taking to the format well, swamping the expanse with throb, tumult, and delirium. The songs almost lull with their drift and low tones, but the agony and isolation of daily life punch through again and again and again. The mutant bass, schoolyard chant, and 2×4 stomp of the songs are a perfect nest for the bleak declaration of the vocals. Followers of the band Huggy Bear will recognize the work of Jon Slade and Chris Rowley in Unmarry Me as both bands share a tangled, endlessly interdependent way of songmaking. Unmarry Me play like they’re doing trust falls, each sound feels released like it’s the last support between a known life and an unknown life. It is a incredible thing, as a listener, to take this deep breath and leap with them.
