The debut full-length from Oakland’s Violence Creeps is a forceful statement of distressed, mid-tempo, inflexible punk. Amber is a focused, terrifying singer, working out every paranoid variation of a single uneasy lyric like “I saw you watching me!” The songs are not at all funny but have a sharp sense of humor, making Violence Creeps the spiritual heirs to Flipper or maybe No Trend.
